Italy Ski Holidays from Dare2Ski

Italy recent progress as an International winter destination initially owed a lot to do with the prices and more so when they had the Lira. However being part of the Euro increased the prices, so Italy now competes with its neighbours favourably on quality of resorts. Significant investment has seen vast improvements in the lift systems and infrastructure, which together with its food and wine, means Italy should be worth more than a cursory glance for your next ski vacation.

Italian resorts vary as widely in their characteristics as they do in location- and they are spread along the full length of the Italian border from Sauze d'Oulx to the Dolomites. There are many high, snow sure ski resorts and charming villages, with some mountains offering the most extensive ski area in the world. Grooming tends to be superior to say France, so beginners and intermediates will get significant enjoyment on the slopes. Those who like long lunches will revel in Italian resorts too!

Italian resorts manage their ski areas well, even if there has been a poor snowfall, so Italy could be a great choice for you. There always seems to be less people on the slopes too, compared to say France so perhaps that is another positive. Some of the resorts are just as easy to drive to as France, with Courmayeur, La Thuile and Pila being close to Geneva. So if you like great skiing, reasonable prices, good food everywhere, less crowded slopes and tight trousers, then Italy could be for you.
