The snowsure ski resort of Flaine is a specially constructed town, dedicated to skiing. The centre is reserved for pedestrians and close by to your accommodation you\'ll find everything you need for your ski holiday: Ski slopes, ski lifts, an array of shops and also leisure areas. Car parking is plentiful for those who self drive or who hire a car from the airport.Originally a little bit of an eyesore with scant regard to architechture, but with a great ski area,Flaine has been reinventing itself with extensive contributons from Intrawest who have transformed Les Arcs 1950 and now should feature high on anyones list who wants to ski France,in a superb ski area, with short transfers from Geneva.

The Grand Massif ski area links the resorts of Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Samoëns and Sixt Fer à Cheval. Situated between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc the area is exceptional offering picture postcard scenery all around. Originally devised by Emile Allais, Flaine\'s ski runs follow the natural contours of the mountain. They provide a wide variety of terrain for skiers, from beginner to expert. Several of the ski runs are also specially designed for beginners. They are accessible by 4 free ski lifts: The Pré drag or chairlift, the Bissac rope tow lift and the yogurt pot style lift in the Flaine Forum. Right from the top of Flaine skiers can discover the 14 km long blue run which follows the perimeter of the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval Nature Reserve. The thrill seekers in Flaine can attempt the “Combe de Gers” which is a steep run offering some wild skiing for those with a little bit of experience. The long, technical and steep descent drops more than 800 vertical metres. Being up relatively high, Flaine receives good snow fall and has many spots to make the most of the newly fallen powder snow.It has an enviable reputation for having snow where others are struggling.

After skiing or if you fancy having a rest day off the slopes Flaine has many activities on offer waiting to be discovered: Ice Driving, Ice Quad Biking, Karting on ice, paragliding, helicopter rides, snowmobiling and rock climbing to name but a few, even if you\'re not skiing Flaine has something on offer for all tastes. For those visitors who prefer to enjoy other activities, Flaine has a few options: a cinema, an ice rink and a fitness centre where you will find saunas, relaxation rooms, a weight room, cardio machines, a solarium, physiotherapy and massages.

The resort centre is at 16000m with the highest point at 2500m.The natural snowfall in Flaine allows a long season, from around December 15 to the end of April and excellent ski conditions all through the season. Flaine enjoys one of the best snow records in the French Alps. 218 snow cannons guarantee a quality snow cover on the more delicate parts of the area, as well as in the beginning and at the end of the season. The snow report is updated daily during the season. We have skied there in one season when there was no snow in Les Gets!

For children there are good childcare facilities where "The Crèche “Garderie les P\'tits Loups” welcomes children from 6 months to 3 years. The clubs-hotels cater for children for customers and the ski schools’ snow-kindergartens take care of children from 3 to 12 years.

The private ski schools are good so we strongly recommend taking at least beginners\' lessons in one of the local ski/snowboard schools. They all offer English-speaking lessons and some are actually British! Special ski equipment, except clothing, can be hired from the numerous ski shops in resort where we have fantastic rates on pre booking.
