Les Deux Alpes is an ever popular choice as it has an excellent snow record, being high altitude (one of the highest in the Alps at 3,568m).Les Deux Alpes also has a glacier as well as a very large ski area of over 200km which together make Les Deux Alpes a favourite and popular resort for visiting British skiers and whilst offering a very lively night scene, it is also acknowledged as being an outstanding resort for families.

This resort is set in the Dauphine region of the Southern Alps and enjoys many hours of sunshine - another reason for its continuing popularity. Every level of skier will enjoy a substantial variety of terrain and beginners making their first hesitant turns will benefit from the excellent conditions on the glacier. At the other end of the ability range, advanced skiers will certainly relish the challenge of neighbouring La Grave and its glacier, which offers some of the best off piste skiing in France. The 28 blue and 15 red runs will keep most intermediates more than entertained.

Extensive skiing in a big, bustling resort; the higher you go, the better the skiing, the brighter the sun and the fewer the crowds. Lifts fan out across the upper and lower slopes of the Meije and the Venosc, providing a wealth of skiing for beginners close to the village and a very good selection of intermediate trails higher up.

This is a lively resort with a very good choice of bars, restaurants and shops. Apres ski is good and enhanced by the relaively new Venosc Plaza which has some great bars and eateries and is a lovely place to walk around. Stamina throughout the day (and night) is needed.

As well as fabulous skiing facilities, there are many other things to keep you busy during your holiday. Les DeuxAlpes has 6 sledge runs in a dedicated area specifically for toboggans next to the Lutins Piste at the bottom of the slopes. There are a variety of runs which are mainly designed for children but also available to adults on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when the slopes are flood-lit for night skiing.

Those who enjoy speed will love riding a powerful snow-mobile over the pistes after dark! Discover the different dimensions of driving; carving turns, accelerating in a straight line, ascents and descents.

Ice gliding is just like bumper cars on ice. The car is powered by a battery and allows you to bump slide and crash into the other cars on the track. Open on Thursdays from 3pm to 6.30pm and Fridays from 9pm to 11pm

There are a number of walking trails that stay open throughout the winter, allowing you to access the snowy heights of the mountains and sample the high altitude mountain restaurants at your leisure.

Many people would not automatically think of Les Deux Alpes as a place to come shopping, however the resort boasts a diverse range of shops that are guaranteed to suit sporting lifestyles.Yes Les Deux Alpes is a great choice for many reasons and also better value than the 3 Valleys!
