Crans Montana...the Skiing

A popular resort for families, as well as offering spectacular views over Mont Blanc and the stunning Matterhorn. The resort contains a ski area of 140km ideally suited for beginners and intermediate skiers, and offers 65km of marked trails for alternative activities such as nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Crans-Montana is served by 27 ski lifts, with three more button lifts for beginners. A free ski bus connects Crans, Montana and the lift sytems.

For better skiers, although there’s just one black piste marked on the ski map, there are good opportunities for advanced and expert skiers to venture into powder, weather permitting, between the pistes and to ski off-piste further up the mountain. Beware... though there are numerous cliffs which look good for extreme skiers, they can be very dangerous if you venture off-piste unaware, so for safety reasons it maybe a good idea to seek advice before your days events and maybe hire a local mountain guide or find someone who knows the area.

Crans Montana...the Apres Ski.

The town is split into two areas, Crans and Montana and has a selection of designer shops and an excellent variety of restaurants. The resort has excellent childcare facilities with a superb kindergarten in the village and on the pistes.

By European standards Crans Montana doesnt go wild on apres ski and has a more sedate approach to the evenings entertainment.Once you have had enough on the slopes or the lifts finish, the lively bars are in Montana such as Leo's,La Grange and Amadeus. In Crans the George and Dragon is OK as well as the New Pub, but most generally many head back to the accommodation ready for some fine dining in over 80 restaurants. After dinner excitement is pretty muted but there are some excellent though quiet piano bars such as the Memphis bar in Crans with is alpine atmosphere and jazz. The Punch bar is OK too if you like Cuban music and cigars. The three main nightclubs dont get going until midnight or so, but if you want to strut your stuff then check out the Absolut or Baroche in Crans.Number Two,Constellation and Zapata are generally geared for the younger crowds. For those wanting a flutter there is a casino near the ice rink.
