Avoriaz is a purpose-built, unique resort in the Portes du Soleil ski area and has excellent access to over 650km of varied and connected skiing. It’s full of tall buildings with slanted roofs and walls covered in wooden shingles, which are meant to mirror the natural shape of the surrounding mountains. There’s loads of self-catering accommodation here, which makes it a favourite with families and groups. And the streets are pedestrianised and snowy, so you can ski right through the town in safety.

The number of blue and red runs make this an ideal choice for intermediate skiers as well as beginners who will learn on some of the best snow in the area, being the highest point in the Portes du Soleil ski area. Avoriaz is a good call too if you’re new the mountain – start off in the nursery area right next to the vaillage and then move onto the linked greens and blues down towards Morzine. Once you have decided to make Avoriaz your next base for a winter adventure, the decision is then on where to stay.

If an apartment suits then the Atria Crozats Residence offers stylish, 1 and 2 bedroom, ski-in/ski-out apartments which are very comfortable and built with the idea of optimising skiing convenience which is at the heart of these apartment’s location. Apartments here have a modern style with plenty of storage for luggage and belongings. Kitchens come well equipped and functional. Atria Crozats also features wellness guest facilities such as a sauna, hammam and gym plus a children’s play area by the reception.

All the three buildings here offer ski-in/ski-out access and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The ESF ski schools and “Village des Enfants” are also close to the property. The Atria Crozats Residence is ideally located in the Crozats district at 1800m, next to the centre of the village 250m away, a short walk to the restaurants, shop and bars. If you don’t want to walk you can hop on a fun horse-drawn sleigh taxi! Parking is on-site but for transferring guests a dedicated shuttle will transport you to and from the residence and the resort centre.

Avoriaz also happens to be one of the best resorts in France for off-slopes activities. You can play in a tropical jungle full of waterfalls and slides at the Aquariaz water park. Or if you’d rather be out exploring the area, take to two wheels on a fatbiking adventure or strap on some snowshoes and join a walking tour, capped off with dinner in a mountain hut.
