Chalet Fougeres, La Clusaz, France

This beautiful 130m2 chalet has been lovingly refurbished by its owners, who used local craftsmen to bring out the best of this typical Savoyard home. Natural materials have been combined with a stunning open plan layout, so there’s plenty of space for everyone.

There are three double bedrooms, two with en suite shower rooms, plus a separate bathroom on the first floor and the kids have the top floor all to themselves, with a bedroom sleeping four and a play area with TV. So while they are chilling upstairs, you can be preparing a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, catching up with friends in front of the classy fireplace, or relaxing in the hot tub under a star-filled sky. The dining table is big enough for everyone to get together for a meal and plan the next unforgettable day in La Clusaz.

Nestled between Le Cret du Merle, Etale and Beauregard, you are just metres away from some great skiing when you stay here. With the La Clusaz telecabine on your doorstep and the ski bus just a few metres away, you have access to 220km of pistes and 95 lifts, all covered by the Aravis ski pass, so you will never be short of somewhere new to explore.

The Beauregard plateau is a great choice for cross-country skiers, and there’s lots to do for non-skiers too. There’s an ice-skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, or you could try sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the village’s heated outdoor pool and spa. Whatever you choose to do, at the end of the day there’ll be a warm welcome waiting back at the chalet.

In the summer , the telecabine means you’re perfectly placed to enjoy all the summer sports the Aravis mountains have to offer. Hike into the Col des Aravis, or let the telecabine ferry you and your bike to the top, so you can come back down at your own pace.

Other activities available in the area include horse-riding, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding. The mountains around La Clusaz are criss-crossed with tracks and paths, so take a picnic and make a day of it.

The beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car, and is a great place for a day out. The lake is said to be the cleanest in Europe and in the summer it’s a lovely place for water sports, cycling, swimming or you can just hire a boat and explore the lakeside beaches.

If you just want to relax, why not soak up the sun from the hot tub or balcony. Later, you can make the most of the long summer evenings at a local restaurant, or fire up the barbecue in the garden.
